Biz2insure for Your Liability Needs

General Liability Insurance offers crucial protection for your business entity, covering bodily injury and property damage claims (excluding those involving your employees) caused by your or your employees’ negligence. This coverage applies whether the incident occurs at your premises, on the job site, or even after the job is completed. If someone claims to have suffered bodily injury or property damage due to your work, this insurance will respond.

Coverage Limits:

  • $300,000 per occurrence / $600,000 aggregate
  • $500,000 per occurrence / $1,000,000 aggregate
  • $1,000,000 per occurrence / $2,000,000 aggregate

The aggregate limit is the maximum amount the insurer will pay within a 12-month policy term, typically twice the occurrence limit. Additionally, the policy provides, at no extra cost:

  • $50,000 for fire legal liability
  • $5,000 for medical payments
  • $1,000,000 for advertising and personal injury
Rating Basis

The premium for your general liability insurance is calculated based on the number of employees working in the field who might negligently cause bodily injury or property damage. Insurers may base the premium on either the number of full-time and part-time employees or the payroll amount. Subcontractor costs are also considered, with a lower rate applied if you have certificates of insurance for them. Without a certificate, subcontractors are rated as employees, resulting in a higher premium. These policies are subject to audit.

Umbrella Express Policy

The Umbrella Express Policy is an optional coverage that provides an additional layer of protection over your existing general liability, business auto, workers’ compensation employers liability, and other liability policies. A true umbrella policy increases your liability limits by an additional $1,000,000 over your underlying policies and covers certain exclusions from your general liability policy, typically over a self-insured retention (deductible) of $10,000. It responds to losses not covered by any underlying policy from the first dollar.

Opting for an umbrella policy can be cost-effective. For example, instead of increasing your general liability, business auto, and workers’ compensation limits to $2,000,000 each, you can purchase a $1,000,000 umbrella policy over $1,000,000 underlying policies. An excess policy is similar but only extends the limits of the underlying general liability policy without the “drop down” feature.
